| Rationale: | |
| Students need a basic foundation course (7800:274 Digital Technology for Theatre 3 credits) dealing with new and evolving media that they will encounter in theatre productions. Also, eliminating 7800:470 Theatre in Education (3 credits) and replacing it with either 7800:472 Methods of Teaching Elementary Theatre Arts (3 credits) or 7800:473 Methods of Teaching Secondary Theatre Arts (3 credits) is being done per the Ohio Department of Education. ODE requested that the Theatre in Education course be split into two different levels of teaching theatre (elementary and secondary).
The number of elective credits has been reduced from 18 credits to 15 credits. This will make an allowance for the addition of 7800:274 Digital Technology for Theatre (3 credits) into the required course allotment without changing the number of credits required for the degree. Also, 7800:472 Methods for Teaching Elementary Theatre Arts 3 cr (see FAA-08-060) and 7800:473 Methods for Teaching Secondary Theatre Arts 3 cr (see FAA-08-061) will be added to elective choices. These two classes replace 7800:470 Theatre in Education 3 cr. See FAA 08 056 (no dashes). | |
