Brief Summary of ProposalThe Department of Classics and the programs in Anthropology and Archaeology were combined to form a new Department of Classical Studies, Anthropology, and Archaeology. The Board of Trustees approved this change on August 23, 2000. The purpose of this proposal is to create a new department course number (3240) for existing courses in Archaeology (some of which are now in 3200 and 3870). This new course number (3240) will follow the sequencing pattern presently established for the programs in Classical Studies. This will affect the following existing courses: COURSE NUMBER CHANGES: FROM: 3870:250 Introduction to Archaeology TO: 3240:250 Introduction to Archaeology; FROM: 3870:356 Archaeology of the Americas TO: 3240:356 Archaeology of the Americas; FROM: 3200:313 Archaeology of Greece TO: 3240:313 Archaeology of Greece; FROM: 3200:314 Archaeology of Rome TO: 3240:314 Archaeology of Rome; ADD A SPECIAL TOPICS NUMBER FOR ARCHAEOLOGY: 3240:472/572 Special Topics in Archaeology. Please refer to Proposal AS-01-10 for the corresponding course number changes related to this reorganization.
