Brief Summary of ProposalNew course title: Qualitative Research in Counseling: Theory, Methods, and Design is designed for the advanced doctoral student in Counseling and Education. This course is designed for advanced graduate students who are seeking an understanding of and familiarity with the qualitative approach to counseling and educational research as well as for those who are considering using this methodology for conducting dissertation and other research. Thus, the primary purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the logic and foundation of qualitative research methods and to provide them with opportunities to develop the necessary skills for applying qualitative techniques of investigation to the research of counseling and educational problems. This course will also offer practitioners the opportunity to appreciate the value of qualitative approaches to numerous topics of counseling and educational evaluation and assessment. This course was originally created in ED-03-36, under the name Research in Counseling II. This proposal changes the course title to Qualitative Research in Counseling: Theory, Methods, and Design.
