Brief Summary of ProposalResearch overwhelmingly speaks to the poor communication skills of employees in the workplace. Corporate America spends billions of dollars annually to retrain those employees, and weak literacy skills put companies at risk. At the same time, the nature of workplace communication has changed dramatically in the past decade. Employees must compose documents and make presentations that integrate text, graphics, audio, and video. A certificate in workplace communication will provide students both the theoretical foundations as well as the functional skills to succeed in the contemporary workplace.
