Brief Summary of ProposalThis purpose of this proposal is to replace the current pre-requisite: seven credits of sociology and permission of advisor, instructor, and chair of department with the pre-requisite: Graduate standing in sociology, seven credits of sociology, and permission of advisor, instructor, and chair of department to the course 3850:697. In the past several years, increasing numbers of students without sufficient -- or sometimes any -- background in sociology have registered for our graduate courses. These new prerequisites address this problem, while still allowing instructors to admit prepared students from other disciplines.
