Brief Summary of ProposalThe purpose of this course is to introduce students to the public policy issues that impact the elderly. This course will examine the political institutions and policymaking processes that impact legislation affecting the elderly including: the President, Congress, interest groups and government agencies. This examination will also involve analyzing federal and state level adoption and implementation of the Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security programs for the aged.
