Brief Summary of ProposalModern Languages 597,Individual Reading in Modern Languages (1-4 credits),is intended to be a companion course to similar existing courses in French, German, Italian and Spanish. The purpose of this course is to afford graduate students the opportunity to do individualized work in languages such as Arabic and Chinese that currently do not have their own specific course area number and thus are offered under the general 3500 "Modern Languages" designation.
