| Brief Summary of Proposal | This proposal is revising and expanding the current Child and Adolescent Health Nurse Practitioner track to include two options: The current focus on primary health care and a second option will focus on child and adolescent acute care. This change is necessary to prepare pediatric nurse practitioners with the substantive content needed to sit for certification as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner through the national certifying organization Pediatric Nursing Certification Board(PNCB). Students may choose either option which will be 45 credits or they may add the four acute care courses for a total of 55 credits so that they are prepared to sit for both certifying examinations, the primary health care pediatric nurse practitioner certification or the pediatric acute nurse practitioner certification. This expansion is in response to the regional and national demand for acute care pediatric nurse practitioners. There are only 3 certified acute care pediatric nurse practitioners in Ohio. |
