Brief Summary of ProposalThis proposal will update the curriculum by adding two new courses and changing one course in the Health Care Office Management program. These courses are also required for the Health Care Administrative Assistant associate degree and Medical Billing certificate. The changes include 1) Add 2530-240 Medical Coding I (Diagnostic) to develop essential basic-level diagnostic coding skills, 2) Change the name of 2530:243 Medical Coding to Medical Coding II (Procedural) to reflect the focus on procedural coding, and 3) Add 2530:257 Health Care Office Finance to help students attain a level of understanding of the financial aspects of medical practice management.
