| Brief Summary of Proposal | The proposal is that a new course be offered called Seminar in Graduate Research (3700: 698) that would allow the students to pursue their master’s research but would also allow faculty to mentor the students. This would give the students more offering of classes at the master’s level.
The course would be run as a seminar, where students and the faculty responsible for the course would interact to further the completion of the student’s essay of distinction. This would have benefits over the independent study route as students would be able to gain insights from hearing about fellow students’ research and offering constructive advice to one another. We believe strongly that the research process course needs to be a shared learning experience among students.
