Brief Summary of ProposalThis proposal is designed to use the current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track sequence and existing courses from Child and Adolescent Health Nursing and the Department of Counseling to expand the current course offering to prepare students to sit for the Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner national certification examination. Students will have the option of choosing preparation as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (46 credits)in the existing track, or they may add a sequence of existing courses from the CAH NP track (3 credits) and the Department of Counseling (6 credits) for a total of 57 credits to be prepared as a Psychiatric Family Nurse Practitioner. Students can complete the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner option 46 credit hours or the Psychiatric Family Nurse Practitioner option of 57 credit hours.
