| Brief Summary of Proposal | With changes being made to the associate degree, there will be two options available for students with regard to the field work requirement for the Certificate in Gerontological Social Services. One of these, 2260:289 Practicum in Gerontological Social Services, is the type of field work currently completed by taking a social services practicum in an aging setting. It can fulfill the field work required for the gerontology certificate and serve as one of the two practica required for the associate degree. This practicum is being created to differentiate it from an associate degree practicum in a non-aging setting. The other new field work option is 2260:287 Practicum in Therapeutic Activities and Long-term Care, which can be used to fulfill the field work requirement for the Certificate in Gerontological Social Services, the Certificate in Therapeutic Activities, and the associate degree.
