| Brief Summary of Proposal | This is a course I have taught twice in the last five years as a "special topics" course, and I would like to make it a permanent 400/500 level course. (See AS-09-053 for the 509 proposal) It covers the history of Spain from the reigns of Ferdinand and Isabel until 1700. It discusses the rise of Spain as a world power, and its decline. It covers political, cultural, and social topics, giving the students an intimate portrait of this fascinating time and place. |
