Brief Summary of ProposalThis Post MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program for Adult and/or Gerontological NPs is designed for the certified Adult and/or Gerontological Nurse Practitioner who wants to sit for certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This option is being added to accommodate the demand for certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by adult and/or gerontological nurse practitioners who are in medical practices that see patients from infancy through the elderly. The addition of this certification will broaden their scope of practice. Only one course of one credit hour is new and will be offered as a web-based course. All other courses are existing courses in the Child and Adolescent Health Nursing program or in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. The certificate will be a total of 17 credit hours. Upon completion of this Post MSN FNP Certificate Program, candidates will be eligible to sit for certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
