| Brief Summary of Proposal | ISSUE: Currently, applicants admitted under the graduate admission classification of "Non-Degree" are admitted directly by the Graduate School. In contrast, however, the coding in PeopleSoft for Non-Degree's is reflected as an admission recommendation by the academic unit. As a result of this coding, when students are completing the graduate application, they are required to choose an area of study ... when in fact they are eligible to register for any graduate course (assuming the student has the necessary prerequisites).
EXAMPLE: When Graduate School admits an applicant to Management as a Non-Degree, it is reflected in PeopleSoft with an Academic Program of BUSGN and an Academic Plan of 650000NDG ... erroneously suggesting that CBA recommended admission (rather than the Graduate School) and that the student would only be taking courses in Management.
PROPOSAL: As an academic unit, the Graduate School proposes that all Non-Degree admits be coded in PeopleSoft under one Graduate School Academic Program and Plan code (as determined by the Registrar's Office). This will enable Non-Degree student data to be reflected in an accurate manner while reflecting the true intent of the student.
