Brief Summary of ProposalChange 1: Change 7100:105 (See CPA-11-035) Introduction to Art Education from 3 credits to 2. Two credits are sufficient to cover course material and frees up one credit to add a new course to the major. Change 2: Add 7100:430 (See CPA-11-050 ) Professional Practices in Art Education (1). This course is needed to prepare pre-student teaching support and guidance, and prepare students for permanent positions in the art education field. Change 3: Add 7100:425 (See CPA-11-042 ) Ceramics: Methods, Materials, and Concepts (3), 7100:427 (See CPA-11-038) Art in the Inclusive Classroom (3), 7100:424 (See CPA-11-048) Middle School Materials and Techniques (3), 7100:423 (See CPA-11-040) Community Based Art Education (3), and 7100:426 (See CPA-11- 044) Early Elementary Art Education (3) courses to the art education curriculum. Because of art education program growth and development, Special Topics classes that were offered on a rotating basis as different sections of the Special Topics number (7100:484), need to be formalized with course names, numbers, and integration into the art education program. Change 4: Add 7100:428 (See CPA-11-046) Elementary Field Experience: Art Licensure (1) and 7100:429 (See CPA-11-052 ) Secondary Field Experience: Art Licensure (1) to accommodate the need for supervised field experiences during art teaching method courses. Field hours are currently absorbed in methods courses and students are given no direct supervision. Change 5: Alter studio requirements to give students the opportunity to explore studio coursework in greater depth. These changes also freed up 3 credits to build in prior changes to the program without increasing the total degree credit requirements.
