| Brief Summary of Proposal | This proposal specifies two changes specifically directed to the Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner track:
1. Change in requirements to include at least 12 months of current clinical experience in acute medical/surgical nursing or acute long-term care within the last two years.
2. This change relates to progression in the track:
Students must achieve a B- or higher in core specialty courses: 8200:608 Pathophysiological Concepts 3 crs; 8200:610 Advanced Adult/Gero Assessment w/Practicum 3 crs and 8200:612 Advanced Clinical Pharmacology and all Adult/Gero Specialty Clinical Track courses needed to progress in the Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Track.
These changes are necessary as students who do not have current acute medical-surgical nursing clinical experience for at least 12 months, and those who receive a C+ or lower are not successful in progression in the track and these courses are fundamental to competencies required in the Adult/Gero Nurse Practitioner role as a direct care provider. These changes are being to increase student success. |
