| Brief Summary of Proposal | The roles of women in Middle Eastern societies have been contested both from within and by outsiders, who frequently misunderstand and stereotype them. This course explores the complex and multi-layered processes and dimensions, cultural values and practices, institutions and events that have shaped and continue to shape women’s experiences in the different societies of the Middle East. This course, previously taught as a special studies course, is designed for advanced undergraduates and graduate students. See AS-08-067 for the graduate portion, 3400:599 |
