Brief Summary of ProposalThis proposal is to establish a Post MSN Psychiatric Family Nurse Practitioner Program for advanced practice nurses who have a master's degree in nursing, are certified as a Psychiartic Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and want to be eligible to sit for ANCC certification as a Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. There is a demand for Psychiatric Family Nurse Practitioners regionally and nationally. This certificate program is designed using existing courses in the Child and Adolescent Health Nurse Practioner track, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track, and two courses from the Department of Counseling. Dr. Karin Jordan, Chair of Counseling was consulted by Dr. Tusaie and agrees that those courses can be a required component of this proposed certificate program.
