Dr. Lord received his Ph.D. in Psychology from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1975. Research interests include information
processing and social perceptions; motivation, goal setting and control theory; leadership and group behavior; and
self-directed learning. Courses typically taught include information processing, leadership, and motivation. His publications
have appeared in leading I/O journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human
Decision Processes, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, and Leadership Quarterly, and
he is an editorial board member of Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Leadership Quarterly, and the
Journal of Applied Social Psychology. He is a Fellow of the American Psychology Association and the American
Psychological Society.
