George E. Price (University) Scholarship

 

 

 

Description

The George E. Price Scholarship Award is presented annually* to assist deserving undergraduate or graduate student(s).   The scholarship was established by NAPM - Akron in honor of George E. Price, Jr. a former member of the affiliate and national president of the association, for his contribution to the field of industrial purchasing.  Six annual $500 scholarships will be offered**

 

* The Board of Directors of NAPM-Akron, at its sole discretion, may elect to suspend the scholarship program at any time for any reason.

Eligibility / Qualifications

Qualified applicants must be in a Supply Management related program and have attained junior or senior standing and be full time students for the upcoming year, or who will be a graduate student in a Supply Management related program in the upcoming year.  The awardees must show proof of full time enrollment and be in good standing each semester. Upon receipt of information, each semester, half of the awarded scholarship fund will be released to the awardee.

 

Application

Please submit your application to the local university’s scholarship coordination office as directed by their respective and advertised schedule.  Your application should consist of:

  1. A cover letter that describes (sell yourself) why you should be selected for this scholarship.
  2. A current resume that includes name, address, local telephone number, expected date of graduation, academic achievements, extracurricular activities with offices held, work experience, other accomplishments and merits, and a phone number where you can be reached during the day.
  3. A brief essay on “what you believe is the most difficult challenge for today’s Supply Management professional” and “why”.

 

Objective

The purpose is to assist an outstanding student(s) to achieve a quality academic education by providing moderate financial assistance to qualified applicants. A secondary goal is to encourage pursuit of studies within the purchasing or materials management discipline.

 

Process

The Scholarship Awards Committee will review all applications as defined by their internal process, in conjunction with the selection process of each university.

 

Selection Review

The winner(s) will be notified in April and the award funds will be distributed directly to the recipient. No person may receive more than two Association scholarships over the course of his or her undergraduate or graduate enrollment.  The Board of Directors will review the recommendations of the Scholarship Awards Committee and make the final determination of the recipient(s).
