This coverage provides payment of liability claims for bodily injury or property damage arising out of the operation of University vehicles on behalf of the University. This insurance protects both the University and its authorized vehicle operators while operating a University vehicle (owned, leased, rented or donated). Note: The employee must be acting within the scope of their duties on behalf of the University to assure coverage.
The University currently purchases auto liability insurance for all of its owned, leased, rented and donated vehicles. Physical Damage coverage (comprehensive and collision) is only purchased for leased, rented and donated vehicles. There is a deductible associated with the Physical Damage coverage and the responsible department is accountable for its payment. Physical damage to owned vehicles is currently the responsibility of the individual department.
