Jim was born in Akron, OH, and lived in Copley and Seville as he was growing up. He has been living in Medina County for 50 years.
Jim plays a number of musical instruments: mountain dulcimer, clarinet, classical guitar, recorder, and is thinking about getting a mandolin or violin.
He joined MUS about 8 years ago.
He won top ratings in the OMEA music “contests” throughout junior and senior high school in the 1950s and 1960s. More recently, he placed third in the open contest at the Mid-East Regional Dulcimer Contest in Coshocton, OH, in 2000 and third place in the vocal contest at the same event in 2006.
