Tony Rossetti

Tony was born in Los Angeles, CA, and moved to Canton, OH as a child.  He graduated from Canton South High School and joined the Navy where he volunteered for submarine duty.

His father played guitar, and although Tony liked to “noodle around” with his dad’s guitar, he was forced to take accordion lessons.  He abandoned the accordion as soon as he could, but continued to play the guitar through high school and the Navy.

He took about 25 years off, where he hardly played his guitar at all, then about three years ago he started playing again.  He joined the Canton Folk Society and then Mixed-Up Strings.

“Now I can’t get enough of playing this music.  There’s definitely something habitual and fulfilling about old-timey/Celtic/acoustic music.  We’ve all grown up hearing these tunes.  They’re like familiar old friends.  Playing acoustic music satisfies the ear.  And it’s a lot of fun.  To me, I feel it’s very satisfying to just put-away the high-tech gadgets/stuff, grab your acoustic guitar and just play the music.  That’s the way it’s been done for centuries.  I guess that’s why we call it – root’s music.”
