WHP announces 2010 Women of the Year, to be honored March 3

The Women's History Project of the Akron Area selected 10 women to be the organization's 2010 Women of the Year. The women will be honored at Awards Dinner, March 3, at The University of Akron's Martin Center.

This year's honorees are:
--Myrna Becker, Integrity
--Judy James, Innovation
--Linda Kersker, Posthumous
--Dorothy Marsh, Heroine (Faye Dambrot Award)
--Barbara Mathews, Posthumous
--Rosalyn & Marissa Norwood, Courage
--Sr. Mariellen Phelps, Faith
--Sandra Roe Smith, Perseverance
--Tracy Soulsby, Pioneer

Selected because of their many contributions to the community, these women will receive their awards at the annual WHP Awards Dinner March 3 at The University of Akron's Martin Center, 105 Fir Hill St. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50.

For almost 30 years, the Women's History Project of the Akron Area have highlighted the contributions women make to the city, the county, the region and the nation with its Women of the Year Awards.

UA Women in Philanthropy
to honor Betty G. Walcott

Women in Philanthropy at The University of Akron will honor Betty G. Walcott with its Elizabeth Buchtel Award, which honors women who have been leaderss in philanthropy to the University. Walcott will be the third woman to receive the award.

Walcott will be honored at the Women's History Project annual awards dinner on March 3 at The University of Akron's Martin Center, 105 Fir Hill St. Tickets are $50.
