| Five
worst places to park on campus |

We
don't know the safest places to park on campus, but we know the
places to avoid. So, if you'd like to come back to a car with
everything in tact, here are some places to avoid.
Off-campus
side streets
According
to The University of Akron's Crime Reporting Page, if you park on
Vine, Nash, Sumner or Allyn streets, you may return to a car that's
been robbed. The explanation is simple. Anyone can approach your
car, break in (or vandalize it), and get away unnoticed. Sure, you
may not have to pay to park along those streets; but, in the end,
you may be paying more -- if your car is vandalized or stolen.
Lot
behind the Rec Center
Students
parking behind the Rec Center also find their cars vandalized or
robbed. The lot is accessible to students and anyone who roams the
local streets. So, a UA parking permit doesn't necessarily protect
your car on campus.
Polsky
parking deck
On
Thursday and Friday nights, lots behind the bars fill quickly. That
means the Polsky parking deck becomes a cheap, convenient place
for bargoers to park. That makes Polsky's parking deck a target
for thieves roam downtown Akron. Even though Akron Police share
the lot, rates for vandalism and robbery remain high.
CBA
lower parking lot
The
lower parking area in CBA is the wrong place to park your car. The
lot is accessible from downtown streets and secluded -- and few
people walking by can see in. That means someone who breaks in to
your car isn't likely to be noticed -- or caught.
Greek
Orthodox Church
The
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church is located off campus across
the street from Central-Hower High School. That location makes your
car a target. According to UAPD reports, the church lot is accessible
to those walking the area, high school students, church and school
visitors and university students. For this reason alone, the break-ins
that occur there are virtually untraceable.
