Sociology Club
(Updated January 6, 2006)
The Sociology Club at the University of Akron is made up of a diverse group of students and faculty that are interested in exploring the links between current social issues and sociology. The Sociology Club is open to all majors, and we welcome you to join us.
Our regular meetings are on the first and third Wednesday of each month. We bring in speakers from the community and campus or watch and discuss videos on a variety of topics. These meetings typically last between 1 and 2 hours and are open to everyone - membership not required.
In addition to the regular meetings, we take occasional trips to nearby Colleges and Universities to hear speakers or attend events that interest members, hold fund raisers or collections for local philanthropies, and get together for social events. These extra events do require membership or small charges to cover our expenses.
Schedule for Sociology Club: Spring 2006
The Sociology Club regular meetings will once again be the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The first Wednesday of each month will be our video series and will start at 6:00pm. The third Wednesday of each month will be our speaker series and will start at 4:30pm.
Although this is our intended schedule, we are still confirming some of the speakers so please stay tuned for any changes.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend our meetings, and better yet to join the club!
