Biography:
Valiant is interested in the health experiences of women and men. Particularly the effects of the social, cultural, and economic relationships between women and men’s gender roles and their health experiences within societies. Whereas gender roles, responsibilities, and norms about culturally acceptable behavior are socially constructed, and vary across countries, the focus is to what extent across social structures, economic status, and political factors influence health inequalities among women and men within different cultures.
