John Barnes Sr.

President

 

 

Mr. Barnes served as a City Councilman for 18 years.  During his tenure he was Chairman of the Economic Development and Public Safety Committees and served on Public Finance.   "Councilman Barnes" has served on many local and national boards.  In 1986, he was elected President and CEO of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials by some 7000 African American elected officials from across America. The Caucus is an African American public policy advocacy group located in Washington, D.C. that establishes linkages with local governments in the United States and around the world.

 

Mr. Barnes was the first African American President of the Northeast Ohio Area Wide Coordinating Agency, a bi-county regional planning group with a 2 billion dollar annual budget.  He also served on the National Black Leadership Roundtable, and the National Education Foundation, a group of African American landmark colleges.

 

In 1998, Mr. Barnes retired from his position as Reliability Engineer (Quality Assurance) with General Motors.  He is now President of Ohio Erie Properties (O.E.P.).  O.E.P. is a real estate investment, development, and management firm based in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.  The company manages substantial forestry and land holdings, and pursues land acquisitions in Southern USA.
