Shelley Cooper
Executive Director
Shelley Cooper
currently serves as Executive Director of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus,
the oldest black political caucus in the nation. Her responsibilities include but are not limited to fundraising,
community outreach, and public policy development.
Ms. Cooper is a
life long Columbusite, raised on the East Side. She is a graduate of Groveport Madison High School, where her
studies were deeply rooted in community service. By working her way through college, Cooper earned her Bachelors
of Arts Degree in Political Science from the Ohio State University.
A firm believer in
the principles of public service, Cooper ‘s career has taken many unique twists
and turns ranging from work with a statewide labor organization to acting as
campaign manager for individuals seeking elective office.
In July of 1998,
Ms. Cooper saw one of her long time dreams come to fruition. She along with two
partners established Millennium Solutions, Inc., a full service computer
consulting company, with special expertise in resolving problems associated
with the Y2K bug.
Ms. Cooper
continues to serve her community in several capacities. She currently is a member of the Board of
Trustees of Help End Lead Poisoning (HELP), the Executive Committee of the
Franklin County Democratic Party, both the Hampton University and Ohio State
University Alumni Associations, the New Leaders - Columbus Chapter, and the
NAACP. Cooper is also the former
President and Trustee of Minority Affairs for the Franklin County Young
Democrats, Vice President of the Ohio
Young Democrats Regional Director for the Young Democrats of America, and
Policy Chair, of the Central Ohio Area Women’s Political Caucus.
