Shelley Cooper currently serves as Executive Director of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus, the oldest black political caucus in the nation.  Her responsibilities include but are not limited to fundraising, community outreach, and public policy development.

Ms. Cooper is a life long Columbusite, raised on the East Side.  She is a graduate of Groveport Madison High School, where her studies were deeply rooted in community service.  By working her way through college, Cooper earned her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science from the Ohio State University.

A firm believer in the principles of public service, Cooper ‘s career has taken many unique twists and turns ranging from work with a statewide labor organization to acting as campaign manager for individuals seeking elective office.

In July of 1998, Ms. Cooper saw one of her long time dreams come to fruition. She along with two partners established Millennium Solutions, Inc., a full service computer consulting company, with special expertise in resolving problems associated with the Y2K bug.

Ms. Cooper continues to serve her community in several capacities.  She currently is a member of the Board of Trustees of Help End Lead Poisoning (HELP), the Executive Committee of the Franklin County Democratic Party, both the Hampton University and Ohio State University Alumni Associations, the New Leaders - Columbus Chapter, and the NAACP.  Cooper is also the former President and Trustee of Minority Affairs for the Franklin County Young Democrats,  Vice President of the Ohio Young Democrats Regional Director for the Young Democrats of America, and Policy Chair, of the Central Ohio Area Women’s Political Caucus.
