TaKeysha M. Sheppard
Legislative/Administrative
Assistant
While completing her undergraduate degree in
Criminology at the Ohio State University, TaKeysha Sheppard began working as a
Page in the Ohio Senate running errands for Senators. Over the past five years, TaKeysha has been promoted to various
positions in the offices of State Senator Rhine McLin, State Senator Jeffrey
Johnson, and most recently to the office of State Representative Vernon Sykes
as his Legislative/Administrative Assistant.
Her responsibilities include the day-to-day management of the 44th
House District office, assisting in the development and analysis of legislative
initiatives, and addressing the concerns of constituents and district officials
regarding state issues.
Outside of her duties as an Assistant in the House,
TaKeysha is involved in various civic organizations. She sits on the Board of the Metropolitan Columbus League of
Women Voters, the Board of Trustees for the Kids Voting Project of Central
Ohio, and will begin serving her first term on the State Board of the Ohio
Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union this fall. She is also very proud of her work as an
advisor and volunteer facilitator for the LEADER Institute, a program that
teaches young women fundamental leadership skills that are applicable to each
area of their lives. TaKeysha believes
that the essence of positive and effective leadership is rooted in the ability
to humbly give of one's self in the pursuit of the common good.
A native of Akron, Ohio, TaKeysha will continue her
education by attending law school and hopes to eventually run her own
governmental policy consulting firm.
