The festival inaugurating the Sylvia Smith Archives of Smith Publications and Sonic Editions occurred during March 2-3, 1992 at The University of Akron. Events included the Dedication Ceremony, the Dedication Concerts on the evenings of March 2nd and 3rd, and a Composer forum on March 3rd. Visiting composers were Jean Charles François, Dan Senn, Randolph Coleman, Herbert Brün, Ben Johnston, Eugene Novotney, Ralph Shapey, Thomas DeLio, William Brooks, and Stuart Smith.
