October 16, 2002 Women Place 4th at All Ohio, Men 18th. Adriana Zalucka (3rd) and Erin Frye (10th) both placed in the top 10 at the All Ohio Championships to help the women to a fourth-place team finish. Lisa McCaulley (25th) and Brandi Schoeppner (46th) finished in the top 50. Completing the Zips scoring was Katrina Jones in 78th place overall. "I was pleased with our effort today, we did a lot of things well," said coach Scott Jones. "We will take a lot from this meet that will prepare us for the challenges we will face at the MAC meet in November." The men's top placer was freshman Chris Perun in 80th place. He was followed by David Pykare (93rd), Wes Parker (109th), Jake Magier (110th), and Todd Moyers (115th). The men finished 18th overall, 9th among Division I schools. "The outcome was disappointing, but the effort was there. We're still learning how to compete over the collegiate distance. The majority of our team has run three or fewer 8km races so we have to be patient," said Jones. *** Outdoor Track Resurfacing Completed While the new indoor facility under construction receives much attention, a project of equal significance has just been completed. The outdoor track has been completely resurfaced and all of the field event areas upgraded. |
