This Saturday the Zips will compete in the MAC Cross Country Championships at Miami University in Oxford, OH. The men's race begins the day at 11:00 am. Akron looks to make drastic improvements on last year's last-place finish. The emergence of Todd Moyers and the rapid development of freshmen David Howard and Chris Perun have the team poised for a breakthrough performance.

The women's race is scheduled to begin at noon. Although picked to finish 7th in the pre-season coaches' poll, the Zips have emerged as one of the surprise teams in the MAC. Adriana Zalucka has been the top Akron finisher in each of the races she has run, including her 17:21 performance at Miami in September. That time is the fastest ever by a MAC runner on that course. Captain Erin Frye has contributed as a leader off the course and as a consistent number 2 runner. Freshmen Morgan Sulzener, Lisa McCaulley, Brandi Schoeppner, Becki Michael, and Katrina Jones have all contributed to the team's succuess
