Women Place 11th at Notre Dame, Men 14th.

The women's cross country team, led by Adriana Zalucka's 13th-place finish, placed 11th in the Blue Division race at the competitive Notre Dame Invitational. The Zips defeated fellow MAC schools Central Michigan, Western Michigan, and Eastern Michigan, but lost to pre-season #2 pick Ball State. Akron also defeated Illinois, Vanderbilt, Iowa, and Pittsburgh, among others in the 24-team field. Captain Erin Frye placed 42nd (3rd among MAC runners) and was joined in the top five by Lisa McCaulley, Morgan Sulzener, and Katrina Jones.

The men's team placed 14th in the Gold Division race. In the absence of David Howard, Chris Perun was the top Akron finisher in 27th place overall. Todd Moyers was the second Zip to cross the finish line and he was followed by Wes Parker, David Pykare, and Jake Magier.

All Ohio Championships

On Friday, October 11, Akron will compete in the All Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio. Last year Bobbie Hardbarger won the women's race. The women finished 7th and the men placed 13th.

Zalucka Named MAC Runner of the Week

For the second time this season Adriana Zalucka has been named the Mid-American Conference's Runner of the Week. Zalucka earned this honor by placing 13th at the Notre Dame Invitational. She was the top finisher from the MAC.
