Outdoor Track is Here!

The University of Akron opened its outdoor track season with a trip to Florida and racing in the Florida Relays. It's always nice to begin a new season with a lifetime-best race and that's what happened for Morgan Sulzener (17:29.53) and Lisa McCaulley (17:32.65) in the 5,000m and Brandi Schoeppner (4:53.47) in the 1500m. David Pykare ran the 1500m in 4:05.61 and ran a 3:11.0 split for the 1200m leg of the 10th-place distance medley relay team. The other members of that relay were Mike Meditz (400m, 49.7), Jeff Swartzel (800m, 1:58.7), and Chris Perun (1600m, 4:28.2). The women's distance medley of Becki Michael (1200m, 3:54.3), Jennie Castle (400m, 57.3), Emily Freudenrich (800m, 2:20.7), and Adriana Zalucka (1600m, 4:56.0) finished 6th in 12:08.46.
