April 23, 2003 Men
& Women Win Quad Meet The men's and women's track teams each won the quadrangular meet against Ashland, Duquesne, and Pittsburgh. With great weather, good training, and good competition the conditions were ripe for strong performances. Among those taking advantage of the positive circumstances were Jennie Castle, who won the 800m, ran a personal best time, and broke the stadium record. Her time was 2:10.50, a 0.2 second improvement on her PR and over a half second improvement of Carrie Alexander's track record, 2:11.06, from the 1998 MAC championships. Following closely behind was Emily Freudenrich (2:14.63). Adriana Zalucka won the 1,500m and the 3,000m. In the former race she ran a lifetime best, 4:37.1, and in the latter she led a 1-2-3 Akron sweep of the event. Zalucka's winning time was 9:57.86. She was followed by Morgan Sulzener (10:06.44 PR) and Lisa McCaulley (10:07.30 PR). Chris Perun also ran a PR in the men's 3,000m (8:56.30). In the 3,000m steeplechase Becki Michael won the women's race and Adam Bray and Jake Magier placed 2nd and 3rd in the men's race. Akron
