PSU National Open Brings PRs

A small group of middle distance and distance runners travelled to State College, PA to compete in the PSU National Open. That group was rewarded with each member earning a personal best performance running in highly competitive fields. On Friday evening, Morgan Sulzener and Lisa McCaulley competed in the 5000m. Morgan ran 17:53.55 and Lisa recorded a time of 18:01.37. On Saturday, Beata Rudzinska and Jennie Castle competed in the fast section of the 800m and, for the third time this year, the school record was broken. Beata improved on the school record she took from Jennie last week by running 2:08.02. Jennie, running her second 800m of the year, also ran her second PR of the year. Her time was 2:12.89. Beata and Jennie placed 3rd and 4th among collegiate competitors (4th and 6th overall).

A group of freshmen also competed Saturday at the OSU Invitational. "Although our times were not impressive I was really pleased with the group's effort. For most of our runners it was their first experience on a 200m track, and it showed. This meet will be a valuable learning experience and will help us prepare for the All Ohio championships on February 15," said coach Scott Jones.
