May 28, 2003 3 Zips Gear Up for NCAA Competition Following the MAC Championships three Akron middle distance and distance runners are continuing to train for the NCAA Championships. They are Jennie Castle (4x 400m relay), Beata Rudzinska (800m, 4x 400m relay), and Adriana Zalucka (10,000m). Rudzinska will compete at 7:00 pm on Friday evening in the prelims of the 800m, with the finals scheduled for Saturday evening. She enters the competition with the 10th fastest time in the country, but is ranked 6th in the hyper-competitive Mid-East Region. On Saturday she will also compete as a member of the 4x 400m relay team. She will be joined by Jennie Castle, Deanna Caldwell, and Lucretia Corbin. The top five finishers in individual events and the top three relay teams will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, CA. Meanwhile Adriana Zalucka is training for the 10,000m at the NCAA Championships. The 10km is not contested at the regional meet. Selection for the NCAA meet will be made from the descending order list. Adriana's 34:30.25 makes her a likely selection.
