Castle, Michael, & Sulzener Victorious at Akron Open

The University of Akron hosted its first home meet of 2004 on a brisk, but sunny day. Pesky winds hampered times in the distance races, but three Zips won their races. Jenny Castle made a strong season debut in the 800m running 2:12.18 for the victory. Teammate Emily Freudenrich was second in 2:16.12. In the women's 1500m Becki Michael notched her first collegiate victory running 4:49.02 and topping second place by over five seconds. Morgan Sulzener won the 3000m with a time of 10:21.66. In the men's 1500m David Pykare ran a personal best 3:58.19 to take third place, right in front of David Howard (4:01.72) in fourth.
