Zips Return to Action at Black Squirrel Classic

The University of Akron track team opened up 2004 at the Black Squirrel Classic. For most of those competing it was their first meet of the indoor season and the results gave a promising indication for the future. In the men's 3000m David Howard ran 8:45.41 to place third in his first collegiate track race. He was followed by teammates David Pykare (8th, 8:51.41) and Chris Perun (10th, 8:58.59).

In women's events, Morgan Sulzener placed second in the 3000m running a PR of 10:09.67. Also recording a PR in that race was Brandi Schoeppner (4th, 10:22.24). Jennie Castle also joined the PR club, running 56.90 seconds in the 400m to win her heat and place second overall. Earlier she anchored the second-place distance medley relay team running her 1600m leg in 5:01.4.
