Zips Victorious in First Home Indoor Meet

The men's and women's track & field teams emerged victorious in the inaugural Skip Summerville Invitational against Ashland, Duquesne, and Pittsburgh. Among the individual winners were Beata Rudzinska in the 800m (2:11.09), Jennie Castle in the mile (5:00.63), and Brandi Schoeppner in the 3000m (9:57.78). Also clocking strong performances were David Pykare in the men's mile (4th, 4:12.44) and David Howard in the men's 3000m (2nd, 8:32.09). Both climbed to number 2 on Akron's all-time indoor list. Runnerup finishes were also turned in by Rachel Zubricky in the mile (5:05.17) and Morgan Sulzener in the 3000m (9:59.98).
