April 5, 2006 Three Regional Qualifiers Highlight Spring Break Trip The Akron women started the outdoor season on a strong note with three regional qualifying performances turned in over the first two meets of the season. Brandi Schoeppner raced to her first ever regional track meet and turned in the second-fastest time in school history running 16:44.92 for 5000m at the Raleigh Relays. At the same meet, Morgan Sulzener booked a return trip to the regional meet in the steeplechase and breaking the school record in the process with her 10:45.01 performance. Beata Rudzinska had to wait until the second meet of the season, the Charlotte Invitational, to run in an individual event and post her regional qualifying mark. She won the 800m in 2:08.19. In that race she was joined in the top five by teamates Emily Freudenrich (3rd, 2:11.68) and Rachel Zubricky (5th, 2:13.77). Also in Charlotte, Becki Michael dropped her PR down to 4:36.05 in the 1500m, an 8-second improvement over her previous best. Charlotte Invitational Results ***
