Women's Cross Country Award Winners Announced

The University of Akron women's cross country team announced the team's 2005 award winners at its Cross Country Awards Banquet, Friday, December 9. Beata Rudzinska was recognized as the Most Valuable Runner. Rudzinska was the Mid-American Conference champion, the All Ohio champion and the Zips top finisher in every race. In addition she earned All Great Lakes Region honors and was recognized four times as the MAC Runner of the Week.

Holly Sumser received the Newcomer of the Year award. In her first year of collegiate cross country competition Sumser was twice the Zips number 5 runner and she competed in all six meets.

Becki Michael improved 50-places in the MAC Championships from 2004 to 2005 and concluded this season as the team's fourth runner at the Great Lakes Regional Championships to earn the Most Improved award.
