February 1, 2006 Zips Women Continue Distance Winning Streak The Zips womens distance crew has now won all nine events they have competed in after capturing the 800, mile, and 3000 at the Kangaroo Invitational. This sweep follows those posted at the Akron Quad and in the Kent State dual meet. Brandi Schoeppner (5:00.07) led the mile from gun to wire to propel Akron to a 1-2-3-4 finish. Behind Schoeppner, the next three finishers all registered lifetime bests: Becki Michael (5:02.07), Adriana Zalucka (5:03.36) and Morgan Sulzener (5:06.45). Akron's top three milers from last year, Beata Rudzinska (4:49.30), Rachel Zubricky (4:57.42) and Jennie Castle (4:58.42) did not compete in the event at the Kangaroo Invitational. Emily Freudenrich is now on a two-meet winning streak after taking the 800m run. After a slow opening 400m Freudenrich asserted her control of the race and cruised to an easy win. Rachel Zubricky finished third. Gina DiAntonio won her first collegiate race in dominating fashion. Her time bulge over the second-place finisher in the 3000m was almost 30 seconds.
