Young Zips Place Third at MAC Championships

Defying the experts' predictions, the Akron women, with four newcomers in their top 5, placed third at the Mid-American Conference cross country championships. The Zips, who were picked to finish seventh in the pre-season coaches poll, were led by Sediah Erskine's 5th-place finish -- the best ever placing by an Akron freshman. For her efforts Sediah received first-team All MAC recognition. Akron has now had 8 consecutive years with a first-team All MAC runner, the longest current streak in the conference. Transfer Colleen Moran (20), freshman Heidi Gross (23), senior Rachel Zubricky (40) and freshman Danielle Sidell (41) completed the scoring.

In the team scoring Akron (129) fell to Ohio University (37) and Bowling Green (113). Akron is back in action Nov. 11 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships.
