Zips Win Third Straight All Ohio Championship
Following up on the success of an indoor season that saw Akron capture its third consecutive Mid-American Conference title, the Zips women's track & field team was crowned All Ohio champions outdoor track champions for the third consecutive year. The Zips tallied 174.5 points in the victory. Runner-up Cincinnati (128.5) was the only other school to top the 100 point barrier.
A dominating 1-2-4-5 finish by Larisa Arcip (4:26.79), Rachel Zubricky (4:26.99), Sediah Erskine (4:36.13 PR) and Colleen Moran (4:36.86) set the tone for the Zips. Arcip and Zubricky both ran under the NCAA regional qualifying standard of 4:27.80 in the race. That success was followed by another 1-2 finish by Arcip (2:12.26) and Zubricky (2:12.69 PR) in the 800m.
Freshmen Heidi Gross and Danielle Sidell both scored in the 3000m steeplechase. Gross finished 4th in 11:04.24 (PR) and Sidell was 8th in 11:51.33 (PR).
