Zips Win Second Straight MAC Outdoor Championship
Following up on the success of an indoor season that saw Akron capture its third consecutive Mid-American Conference title, the Zips women's track & field team was crowned MAC champions outdoor track champions for the second consecutive year. The Zips tallied 154 points in the victory. Runner-up Western Michigan (135) was the only other school to top the 100 point barrier.
A dominating 1-2-4 finish by Larisa Arcip (4:29.63), Rachel Zubricky (4:30.34) and Sediah Erskine (4:33.12 PR) set the tone for the Zips. That success was followed by a 2-3 finish by Arcip (2:10.17) and Zubricky (2:10.50 PR) in the 800m.
Freshmen Heidi Gross also had a great meet scoring in the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m. Gross finished 4th in the steeplechase, running 10:56.53 (PR) and 7th in the 5000m (17:45.96).
