Akron Tops Kent State in Annual Dual Meet
Colleen Moran and Cassie Schenck went 1-2 in the 3000m, Larisa Arcip won the 800m and two Zips PRed in the mile to help the Akron women continue their domination of Kent State in the annual indoor dual meet with an 87-62 win.
In the 3000m, Moran (10:07.24) and Schenck (10:07.42) both ran the last 200m of their race in under 34 seconds to break away from Kent State's Kassie Meholick. Similarly Arcip kicked to a comfortable victory in the 800m with a time of 2:13.30. In the mile, Kim Lorentz (4:57.79) and Danielle Sidell (4:59.38) broke 5:00 for the first time.
"I was very pleased with our effort in this meet, as I have been with our training all year long" said coach Scott Jones. "We're running very well for this early in the season and we're doing it by sticking with the fundamentals. The performances are a great testimonial to the work ethic of the group. I can't wait to see how we race at Penn State and beyond."
