March 4, 2008 Zips Capture Fourth Consecutive MAC Indoor Title For the fourth consecutive year the Akron women's track & field team was crowned Mid-American Conference champions. The Zips scored 106 points topping runner-up Western Michigan by 10 points. After graduating 55 points from the 2007 championship many doubted that Akron could compete for the 2008 crown. The Zips finished the first day with 45 points and a share of the lead with Ball State. The Zips started the second day hot, scoring 15 points in the mile and performed well in all event areas throughout the afternoon to fend off all challengers. The future bodes well with all but 14 of those points returning for the 2009 championship. Akron's All MAC Performers
